We provide a welcoming and supportive environment for you to discuss what truly matters, whether you're supporting someone else or managing your own. You don't have to go through this alone; we're here to listen and help.

About Me:

   Welcome,

I’m Renee Robinson, a Registered Healthcare Assistant, End-of-Life Doula, mother, wife, and grandmother. Through Shared Paths, I offer compassionate end-of-life education and planning, enabling individuals and families to navigate this deeply personal journey with confidence and peace of mind. I chose to undergo extensive training at Rhodes Wellness College, the Doulagivers Institute, and Okanagan College, which has equipped me with in-depth knowledge of palliative care, emotional support, and holistic end-of-life planning. This, combined with my background in financial, personal, and healthcare support, allows me to understand and address the overwhelming nature of end-of-life planning.

Through my own experiences, I’ve learned the importance of having support, guidance, and someone who truly listens. I also understand the challenges caregivers face because, at one point, I put my well-being last—until it led to a serious illness. That experience changed my perspective and strengthened my commitment to helping others prepare, find comfort, and honour their wishes. As an End-of-Life Doula, I provide emotional, practical, and holistic support, helping individuals and their loved ones navigate this journey with grace and dignity. I honour and respect each person’s unique beliefs, offering guidance in traditions

What Is An End-of-Life Doula?

An end-of-life doula is a non-medical professional who provides compassionate support, guidance, and comfort to individuals and their loved ones as they navigate the final stages of life.

Whether working alongside hospice teams or independently, doulas offer holistic care, addressing emotional, spiritual, and practical needs. They help create a peaceful and personalized end-of-life experience through legacy work, vigil planning, and bedside presence.

With a calm, grounding presence, end-of-life doulas hold space for reflection, healing, and meaningful connection during life’s most sacred transition.

Our mission is to provide compassionate support to individuals and families during one of life's most profound moments. Legacy and Personalized Memorial Art Creations

Preserving Memories

Doulas provide vital support to families by helping to create memorial art for both loved ones and pets. I specialize in crafting unique pieces that incorporate personal items, such as hair, ashes, teacups, fishing lures, rings, and pendants, to honour cherished memories. These personalized creations serve as lasting tributes, allowing families to keep the essence of their loved ones close. With compassion and creativity, I transform memories into beautiful art that celebrates the lives of both people and pets—possibilities are endless.

Vigil Planning & Ritual

"Crafting Your Vigil Experiences and Rituals with Care and Meaning."

For those preparing for death, whether imminent or anticipated, we help create vigil spaces that reflect the soul of the person. Each vigil is personalized, heartfelt, and grounded in love.

We guide and support with:

  • Creating a peaceful bedside environment

  • Choosing meaningful music, readings, or silence

  • Coordinating family and friend involvement

  • Offering presence and comfort throughout

Ritual helps us move through grief, celebrate life, and make space for what comes next.

Some rituals we’ve helped create:

  • Candle-lighting ceremonies for loved ones

  • Nature-based release rituals

  • Writing and reading goodbye letters

  • Quiet moments of shared breath and stillness

You don’t need to know how—you need the desire to honour what matters.

We’ll co-create something beautiful, meaningful, and authentic to you.

Caregiver Relief Support

Helping Caregivers: The Importance of Self-Care

Self-care is crucial for caregivers, as it enables them to provide the best support to those they care for. By prioritizing their own well-being, caregivers can maintain their physical, emotional, and mental health, enhancing the quality of care they offer. Practices such as taking breaks, seeking support, and engaging in joyful activities help prevent burnout. Additionally, respite care provides temporary relief, allowing caregivers to recharge, while community connections offer valuable resources and support. Embracing these options is essential for caregivers to thrive while providing loving care to others.

Laura Bibby

My dad passed away a few years ago, and thank goodness Renee was there for me. Renee knew me, and she knew my dad. Renee came and stayed with me for 3 days straight. I was beyond lost and couldn't even make a cup of coffee. From helping me with my two girls to talking to the lawyers to helping me get him back from another country to just being able to manage basic daily life, it wasn't for Renee and her kindness, I would not have made it through all that trauma. Renee is genuinely one of the kindest, gentlest, and most genuine people I have ever met. I know that if I go before her, my girls will be asking Renee for all the help, as my family knows they are in safe, loving, and caring hands.

Renee, the kindness you gave me and my family will never be forgotten.

Facts & Questions

Our clients share their heartfelt experiences and the impact of our services on their lives, reaffirming our commitment to compassionate care and support.
Are you the same as hospice or palliative care?

Nope—we’re a beautiful complement to medical care. While hospice focuses on managing physical symptoms, we focus on emotional, spiritual, and practical needs. We work alongside your care team, not in place of them. Shared Paths Doula provided invaluable support during a difficult time, guiding us with empathy and understanding.

Who do you support?

The team at Shared Paths Doula supports anyone facing end-of-life, as well as caregivers and loved ones. Whether you're planning ahead, in the midst of care, or grieving after loss, we're here to hold space.

Do you only work with people who are dying?

Not at all. We support everyone, including caregivers, adult children navigating difficult decisions, and individuals who want to advance plan. Everyone deserves a safe space and steady support. Preplanning helps initiate the grieving process and addresses unanswered questions for everyone when the difficult time comes.

Pricing

Most doula services are not currently covered under insurance. We offer sliding scale options and transparent pricing because we believe this care should be accessible and open-hearted.
